kids birthday invitations

Every child’s birthday party starts with the invitations. When planning the party, obviously the first thing you need to do is decide how many guests will be attending - and often the age of your child determines the number.

kids-birthday-invitationsWhile there’s no real rule as to when you should send your invitations, you’ll need to make sure that the date you’ve chosen for the party doesn’t potentially conflict with other events that could be happening around this time. For example, school holidays often mean that many of your child’s friends are away, or sporting events might prevent friends from attending. A reasonable amount of time to send out invites would be 4 weeks. Any further away from the party date runs the risk people forgetting. Any closer, and you may find that people have already made other plans.dy made other plans.

Many parents choose to send out invitations via email. If you decide to do it this way, there are plenty of online websites to help you create a fun invite which you can customise with photos or images. Create your invitations online and print them out. If you don’t have time, or lack the creativity, and are having a themed party, you can have a printer make up professional invitations to your specifications.

Invitations for all Occasions is a wonderful site with stunning ideas for invitations. This local business has been supplying creative merchandise for over 10 years, and they stock more than 640 different paper designs, and have the option for you to make the invitations yourself or have them made.

No child’s birthday party would be complete without plenty of fun decorations. Balloons, streamers, and colourful banners are popular decorations and are readily available in party shops in and around Adelaide.

Here are a few companies that carry all kinds of accessories to add that special touch to any child’s birthday party.

  • Party World carries a great range of balloons, as well as the helium gas and accessories to display them. They also have table centrepieces, garlands, sparklers and much more
  • Down South Party Hire has a diverse range of party decor as well as party loot bags and all table decorations including disposable plates, cutlery and napkins
  • Fun For All Parties & Games has everything you need to decorate your child’s party, plus game ideas, party favours and piñatas

You can even choose to ‘decorate’ the children by hiring a face painter, or someone to apply temporary tattoos. Here are some of the artists available in the Adelaide area, some of whom also provide other entertainment.

All paints and glitter used are non toxic and easy to remove.

The centrepiece of every child’s birthday party would have to be the birthday cake! It’s that special finishing touch that delights everyone and focuses all the attention on the birthday boy or girl.

Many parents like to bake the birthday cake and decorate it themselves. But if you’re not too confident about your baking and creative skills, there are plenty of options to have a professional design a cake to fit a themed party, or even order a ready made one.

Here are a few of the companies in and around Adelaide who can design a cake to your specifications.

The Bub Hub has a listing of food caterers and birthday cake makers in and around Adelaide

There are endless ideas and recipes, limited only by your imagination. For some simples ideas, why not try making an owl, shark, snake, penguin, monkey or koala or any number of different animals. Here are a few different recipes and instructions.

Another great idea is to create several iced cupcakes instead of just one larger cake.
If your budget doesn’t allow for a professionally designed cake, or you feel that you don’t have the time or expertise to make one, the easiest option is to go to your local bakery or patisserie and pick a cake that has been pre-made and ask to have your child’s name piped on it. Some bakeries can also make a cake with your child’s photograph or any image as a topper.
